Who We Are
KMS & Associates is a technical writing and training company that operates under the watchful eye of owner, Karen M. Smith Jackson. Karen started the company in 1995, after working as a trainer, professor, and technical writer for entrepreneurs, several small to medium companies and as an independent contractor. The company was started to assist small to large companies in developing the content needed to create their repeatable documentation and business processes.

About the Owner
Karen M. Smith & Associates (KMS & Associates) is a certified woman-owned writing and training company that operates under the watchful eye of owner, Karen M. Smith Jackson. Karen started the company in 1995 after working as a technical writer for several small to large sized companies in the mortgage, telecom, government, education, environmental, jail management, real estate investment, tollway, healthcare and medical device fields.
Karen also has over 20 years of teaching and instructional design and development experience teaching at: North Central Texas College as an Adjunct Instructor for the Business Management Department (Management Principals, Office Management/Secretarial Practice), Richland College as an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Office Systems & Support Department (Microsoft PowerPoint and Human & Academic Development Department – Developmental Writing), University of Texas at Dallas for the Arts & Humanities & Engineering Departments (Technical Writing & Professional Presentations).
Karen earned a master’s degree in Human Relations and Business with a certification in Training and Development from Amber University, bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and a certification in Instructional Design and Development from Collin College.
